DANCE

Introduction to Line Dance-Level 1

This class is an introduction to line dance. We will take the time to learn basic steps and patterns, to build coordination and confidence on the dance floor. We’ll learn popular line dances done at social events: Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, Copperhead Road, and others. After 6 weeks, you may feel ready to further develop your skills in our Level 2 – Absolute Beginner class.

Absolute Beginner Line Dance-Level 2

 

Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Level 1 Line Dance, or able to dance Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, and Copperhead Road. Great, you’ve danced the basic line dances at social events, and are ready to build on that knowledge. Our instructor will guide you to an improved foundation of dance step terminology, rhythm counts, posture, and dance floor etiquette. You’ll experience a variety of absolute beginner line dances, to different genres of music. Leave your inhibitions at the door and join us on the dance floor.

Beginner+ Line Dance-Level 3

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 2 class. Successful completion of Level 2 class. This class will build upon the skills learned at the Absolute Beginner level. You’ll learn dances suitable for the experienced dancer, with some emphasis on body posture, and styling principles. The dances will provide a natural progression of complexity: steps, turns, syncopations, tags and restarts. This 6-week session will prove to be a good ole time on the dance floor.

Improver/Intermediate Line Dance-Level 4

This class will feature dance routines suitable for the experienced line dancer, who has mastered a comprehensive range of step patterns and movements. This 6-week session is intended to satisfy the seasoned dancer with new challenges, that will prove fun and rewarding.

Willful Women of Film

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

LECTURE SERIES

“…and Justice for all” – The Continuation Series

Join us for an exciting journey through our nation’s legal system and the maze of recent Federal court decisions impacting our criminal justice system and the political process. The sharp focus will be on the Rule of Law and its application to everyone regardless of status or position. These highly interactive and important discussions will be hosted by Peter Yellin, former Chief Prosecutor for Military Trials with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune and Chief of Staff to the New York and Arkansas Attorneys General. State of Afghanistan

Professor Jason Criss Howk will lead the 49ͼ Community through a discussion about the state of Afghanistan since 2021. He will update the audience on the growth of terrorist networks and the extreme restrictions on women and girls. Jason is a retired US Army Foreign Area Officer (Soldier-Diplomat) who specialized in Afghanistan and Middle East terrorism. He is a professor of Afghanistan and Islamic studies at the Air Force Special Operations School and the Director of the think-tank Global Friends of Afghanistan. CEU: 0.2

The Great Cathedrals

European countries indeed have a collection of the greatest architectural masterpieces in the world: the great cathedrals. They are large, old, complex, beautiful, revered, and in use today. It is difficult to understand how they were conceived, designed, resourced, and built. The oldest dates back to the third century and earlier. Styles of architecture changed: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Modern. There are far too many to choose between the “greatest” or the “best” but perhaps you will agree that these buildings are truly remarkable today. CEU: 0.75
