Fire & Rescue Training
Our program prepares students for the fast-paced environment of fire rescue. Students receive hands-on instruction from industry professionals who have decades of real-world knowledge. These courses dedicate most of their time to putting the skills and techniques taught in the classroom into practice.
Train for a career as a firefighter. Free tuition for current volunteer firefighters. Certifications earned in the course are Firefighter I/II, Hazardous Materials Ops, Technical Rescuer, and Emergency Vehicle Driver. The program incorporates EMT-Basic and prepares students to sit for the state certification exam.
Print and complete the Fire Academy Application Packet. Tuition is free for current Volunteer Firefighters.

This course includes apparatus inspection, maintenance, testing, sprinkler and standpipe connections, and the abilities to satisfy the key requirements of NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications (2017 edition). This course should be offered consistent with the most current NC Fire and Rescue Commission guidelines; contact the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) for details. Effective date July 1, 2020/ NFPA 1002 Standard, 2017 edition.

After successful completion of these courses, candidates will receive the Fire Fighter I & II Fire and Rescue Commission IFSAC Certification.

After successful completion of this course candidates will receive the Hazardous Materials
Operations Fire and Rescue Commission IFSAC Certification. NFPA 1072, 2017 Standard
for Hazardous Materials/ Weapon of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional
Qualifications, Chapters 4, 5, 6.2 & 6.6.

This certification-related course will present the Technical Rescuer (TR) with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Five (General) and Chapter Six (Ropes) of NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Professional Qualifications. Individual courses included in this block course are Rescue Operations, Anchors and MAS, Fixed Rope Systems, Health and Wellness, Helicopter Transport, Horizontal Systems, Lowers and Raises, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rescue Equipment, Rope Basics, and Victim Management.

Fire & Rescue College
Students must be at least 16 years old to take classes. Certain classes are unavailable for students 16-17 years of age.
