Spend February falling in love with the kitchen. Join 49ͼ¿â Community College for a culinary experience where you can whip up a special meal for your sweetie or craft homemade boba. And for those with four-legged companions, don't miss our course on creating homemade dog treats. Get ready to cook up dishes that will leave both your heart and taste buds smitten.

In "Valentine's Dinner," Chef Bryan will help you make a lovely meal to take home and treat your sweetie. We will start with our very berry baked brie with toasted baguette rounds, then a creamy Tuscan chicken over a mushroom risotto, then a mini Kahlua & raspberry tartlet to finish the meal. You will leave with a romantic dinner and reheating instructions. Enjoy as a night in for Valentine's Day. Held Wednesday, February 7, from 4:30-8 pm, this class will cost $100.

"Boba at Home" will teach you how to make bubble tea, including at least two flavor variations of boba pearls (Classic Brown Sugar and a Fruit Variation), to make your bubble milk tea to enjoy in the comfort of your home. Held Monday, February 19, from 5-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.

In "Dog Treats," students will learn to make delicious homemade treats to spoil their sweet puppies. For hot days, we will make frozen apple dog treats, delicious pup cakes with dog friendly icing, and yummy dog treats shaped like a bone! Held on Monday, February 26, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.

Next Semester

Continuing Education classes begin throughout the semester. New and returning students do not need to apply to the College, simply register for class.

An eight-week session of spring semester curriculum classes begins on March 11. Offered online and in hybrid class formats, classes take only eight weeks to complete and award full credits. For all information, go to www.sandhills.edu/learn.

New students taking curriculum/college credit classes must apply before registering. 49ͼ¿â has an open-door policy, which means all applicants are accepted. On www.sandhills.edu, new students can find the application at the top right. Returning or current students can register by using Self-Service located on MySCC.

Boys & Girls Club

A Boys & Girls Club unit is offered on the 49ͼ¿â campus. It runs from 2:30 to 6:30 pm for kindergarten through fifth grade. The club is ideal for parents/guardians taking SCC afternoon or evening classes, those who need study time, need to utilize the computer lab, or work on projects. Club participants will receive homework assistance, and dinner is offered. The cost is $40 per child per year. The club provides transportation from McDeeds Creek, Farm Life, and Carthage Elementary schools.

In addition, drop-in services are available free of charge to 49ͼ¿â students from 6-9 pm. This is ideal for students taking afternoon or evening classes, working on group projects, or for other academic reasons.
