49ͼ¿â Community College will offer classes in April that empower individuals in both their financial decisions and culinary skills. "Financial Decision Making for Women" offers insights for women nearing retirement, covering topics like investment strategies, taxes, and long-term care planning. Meanwhile, three culinary classes will be offered including handcrafted pizza, incredible charcuterie boards, and delectable desserts.
Finances
"Financial Decision Making for Women" is designed exclusively for women at or near retirement. Topics include understanding investment jargon and dealing with financial professionals. Learn how to get the most from investments while reducing risks and probate costs. State taxes for heirs, income taxes, and long-term care planning will be covered. Held Tuesdays, April 9-30, from 3-5 pm, this class will cost $40.
Culinary
In "Shooter Desserts," students will make an almond cake trifle and limoncello mousse shooters, ending with a smore’s cheesecake dessert. These desserts are the perfect bite-size treat to bring to any occasion. Held Tuesday, April 23, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.
In "Charcuterie Creations," you will learn tips and tricks for creating beautiful and delicious charcuterie displays sure to impress your guests! Discover new ways to present your charcuterie for large groups as well as individual servings. Take home your own unique creations! Held Tuesday, April 9, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.
"Handcrafted Pizza" will teach you to make handmade dough and create your own delicious pizza! Get creative with toppings like fruit, sauces, and unique cheeses. Students will also make a dessert pizza to round out the menu! Held Tuesday, April 2, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.

Summer Semester
Summer semester curriculum (college credit) Sessions A and B begin on May 20, and Session C starts on July 1. For all information, go to www.sandhills.edu/learn.
New students taking curriculum/college credit classes must apply before registering. 49ͼ¿â has an open-door policy, which means all applicants are accepted. On www.sandhills.edu, new students can find the application at the top right. Returning or current students can register using Self-Service on MySCC.
Boys & Girls Club
A Boys & Girls Club unit is offered on the 49ͼ¿â campus. It runs from 2:30 to 6:30 pm for kindergarten through fifth grade. The club is ideal for parents/guardians taking SCC afternoon or evening classes, those who need study time, those who need to utilize the computer lab, or those who are working on projects. Club participants will receive assistance with homework, and dinner will be offered. The cost is $50 per child per year. The club provides transportation from McDeeds Creek, Farm Life, and Carthage Elementary schools.
In addition, drop-in services are available free of charge to 49ͼ¿â students from 6-9 pm. This is ideal for students taking afternoon or evening classes, working on group projects, or for other academic reasons. For more information visit sandhillsbgc.org.
