Due to overwhelming community interest, 49ͼ Community College (SCC) is excited to announce an additional date for its community listening forums in Southern Pines on April 22 at 6 pm at Trinity AME Zion Church's Community Center.
These forums are designed to foster open dialogue and collaboration between the college and the community it serves. The feedback garnered from these forums will guide 49ͼ as they gear up to develop a new strategic plan for the next four years.
SCC President Dr. Sandy Stewart says, “49ͼ is embedded in the community, and the community is embedded in 49ͼ. When people speak about what is on their minds, their aspirations, and their perceptions of the college, it helps drive good decisions and chart the future. We are thrilled to add an additional listening session in Southern Pines and grateful to the Trinity AME Zion Church for providing a location.”
These listening forums give attendees the opportunity to share feedback directly with college administrators about growth opportunities, community engagement, and areas of improvement.
"Thus far, the community’s participation has been wonderful,” says Lindsey Farmer, Dean of Planning & Research at SCC, who leads the strategic planning process. She adds, “We are learning what our community enjoys most about the college, but perhaps most importantly, we are hearing creative thoughts regarding initiatives to explore—including stackable credentials in healthcare, expansion of industry partnerships, and learning communities for retirees. For those who have not yet attended a forum, I encourage everyone to join us and engage in the conversation."
